Comprehensive Psychological Assessment
Krystal Psychology offers a variety of comprehensive psychological assessments designed to meet the unique needs of our clients. We believe in tailoring each assessment to your goals and needs to provide appropriate supports and accommodations, while allowing for greater understanding of each client’s individual strengths and challenges. We approach assessment collaboratively with each client to create a comprehensive and individualized assessment experience. Providing neuroaffirmitive assessment services is an underlying principle of our practice. Our clients are the authors of their own story and when they share their lived experiences, we aim to understand and explore how assessment might enhance, assist, and allow them to grow. Our clinic can assess across the lifespan from age 5 and up.
For us, assessment also considers the intersectional identities of our clients and the spaces in which they exist each day. Understanding environmental and contextual factors that may impact them and which supports may best assist them in decreasing challenges and improving their everyday lives. All assessment practices are culturally informed and trauma informed and consider the risk/benefits for each client given past events or generational factors.
Most of our assessments are comprehensive and in-depth to allow for thorough understanding of the significant information required to provide appropriate diagnostic considerations. Sometimes, we can support individuals with briefer assessments, when appropriate. Collaboration, clear information, informed consent, and informed decision making is ongoing throughout the assessment process. Some assessments can be completed in one day, while others may require several appointments (not including reporting).

Prior to assessment, an initial assessment intake consultation is completed with the registered provisional psychologist to assess the suitability of assessment for your goals and understand your current needs/challenges . This also includes a review of risks and benefits of assessment for your specific goals, an estimation of cost, review of the assessment process, and answering any questions. This consultation also assess the suitability of assessments given the clients current concerns.
As our practice has a compassion focused and narrative approach, we aim to understand how an assessment or a diagnosis (when appropriate) will benefit the client and enhance their overall mental health. The inherent labels which are created through assessment and diagnosis, may not always be the best fit or approach. Additionally, the process of assessment and diagnosis can often bring up many varied emotions (joy, grief, relief, etc.). Supporting clients in making informed decisions regarding assessment is essential to the process. The assessment consultation focuses on understanding the value of assessment for a client and those who support them. Throughout the collaborative process, care is taken to support self awareness, discovery, growth, and overall mental health.
Following assessment, a comprehensive and personalized report is created highlighting the clients strengths and weaknesses, any diagnosis (when appropriate), all assessment findings, and detailed/practical recommendations tailored to the specific assessment goals and client needs, as well as environment specific recommendations. A debrief session is booked to explain all assessment findings, review the report, and answer any questions.
All assessments are completed by a Registered Provisional Psychologist, who has extensive training and experience in inclusive education, assessment, and supporting neurodivergence. Assessments utilize a variety of standardized psychological assessment tools, protocols, and clinical interviews that are developmentally appropriate.
